Adobe Acrobat Tutorial

We suggest you print this tutorial and refer to it as you download Acrobat Reader

From the Set up your computer page or the Resource page, click on the Adobe Acrobat Reader Icon. You will link to and Adobe page that includes the form below.

Fill out the appropriate fields in Steps 1 and 2 (choose Language, Platform Type (PC/Mac), Your Name and Your Email. Then Click on the Red DOWNLOAD button.

After a few moments your computer will show you a Dialog Box, asking where you would like to save the download file.

Stop and Notice! You can save the download file where every you want; but what is essential is to make a note of where you save it. We suggest that you put it on your hard drive (also called your 'C' drive on PC's) in the TEMP folder. It should be easy to find your TEMP folder. Also notice the name Adobe gives to this file. It will probably start with ar (for Acrobat Reader) and end with a version number. For example, on a PC for Acrobat Reader version 4.05, the file is named ar405eng.exe. On a MAC and for a different version the file name will be slightly different.

There is nothing complicated here; it's just that you have to find this downloaded file in a couple minutes and that's a lot easier if you know its name and where it is.

Once you note where you are saving it and what its name is, click on SAVE.

After the file is downloaded, navigate to the directory where you saved the file and double click on the icon to install Adobe Acrobat on you computer. The example below shows ar405eng.exe located in C: TEMP on a PC.

The Installer will run, follow the directions, clicking next or cancel at the bottom.

The install will ask you where you would like to install the software. Generally the default directory is fine, unless you have a special directory structure of your own.

That's it! Proceed to any web page that requires Adobe Acrobat Reader and get the information!
