SAC - Student Advisory Officers

William Hynes, Chair

I am honored to be the chair of the Psychology Student Advisory Committee.. I am a psychology major in my 4th year (2nd at the University), and I enjoy striving to answer questions, offer guidance, and provide encouragement to other students in the department. As a transfer student, it quickly became apparent to me that we could provide a needed service in assisting students trying to navigate the maze of concentrations, minors, extra-curricular activities, research opportunities, graduate school, and funding within our department. I believe that the strength of the education a person receives at this university is directly related to the depth of their involvement with their professors, their department, and their college. I'm hoping that by encouraging other students to join our college, engage with their education, and give back to the college and the community, we can help to make their time at the University a more rewarding experience.

Tyson Florence, Co-Chair

I'm a junior pursuing a major in psychology and a minor in economics. I am also seeking certificates in entrepreneurship, positive psychology, and human factors. Following the completion of my undergraduate degree, I plan on attending graduate school to earn a PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. I enjoy working with others, and have a strong interest in talent management and assessment; theories of leadership and motivation; and the culture, structure, and operation of organizations. I am currently in the process of launching a start-up in the field of talent assessment and development, and hope to pursue similar opportunities as I further my education. I am grateful to work as the Vice Chair for the Psychology Student Advisory Committee this year, and am looking forward to continuing the tradition of building one of the best undergraduate psychology programs available.

Sarah Abraham, Secretary

I am a senior working towards my Bachelor's in Psychology and a minor in Political Science. I am the president of Psi Chi at the University of Utah. I work as a writing tutor at Salt Lake Community College and in a Social Psychology grad student's lab here at the U. I am a big sister for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah. I enjoy planning for and overcoming new challenges. I am looking forward to improving the undergraduate experience by helping more students to become involved in this process. I am excited to serve students as the Secretary for the Psychology Student Advisory Committee.
