jdp | our mission
The Journal of Developmental Processes is dedicated to scholarly work that advances our understanding of developmental
processes in context. The JDP focuses on theoretical, research, and clinical studies that examine the complexity of
change in various contexts and systems, such as individuals, families, schools, small groups, neighborhoods, communities,
cultures, societies, economies and regions. The Journal welcomes both experimental and descriptive studies, including
basic research, detailed case reports, ethnographic analyses, policy and program evaluations, and theoretical explorations.
Particularly welcome are innovative conceptual frameworks, methods, assessments, and programs that capture the complexity
of developmental processes within systems. As a multi-disciplinary journal, the JDP encourages exchange of ideas across
fields including but not limited to, animal behavior, anthropology, biology, cognitive science, communication, education,
linguistics, neuroscience, occupational and speech/language therapy, primatology, psychiatry, psychology, public policy,
sociology, and social work. Finally, the JDP is committed to applying knowledge gained from study of developmental
processes to better the lives of individuals through programs and policies of demonstrated effectiveness.
