The JDP focuses on the complex and dynamic biological, social, and cultural aspects of developmental
systems in humans and other animals. It includes all the disciplines that contribute to our understanding
of human development, the factors that influence it, the mechanisms through which they work, and the
enormous variations observed throughout the course of life.
The JDP is jointly sponsored by the Council of Human Development, the Interdisciplinary Council on Developmental and Learning Disorders, and the Milton and Ethel Harris Research Initiative. Gail Melson is the current Editor in Chief.
