academic writing made fun

busy at work 1st ANNUAL WRITING RETREAT
June 28th-30th found the ADAPT team held up at Cindy Berg's house, laptops in hand. Deborah Wiebe and Debbie Palmer flew in for the 3-day event. Thirteen people (faculty, graduate students, undergraduates) were organized in teams around specific writing projects within the ADAPT longitudinal dataset. The 1st day started with a bang with news that the Butler et al. piece was accepted at Journal of Pediatric Psychology. It was a tremendous success with teams working on 7 different writing projects at various phases of completion (full drafts, partial drafts, ideas in progress). Our on-call statistician, Jon Butner assisted with numerous state of the art statistical projects such as mediational HLM and discrepancies between mothers, fathers, and adolescents analyzed with latent-difference score analyses. Gourmet food was prepared by chefs Gary King and Michelle Skinner. The team deemed the event an unqualified success and plans to make it an annual summer event!
