Cognitive Science Lab
The Cognitive Science Lab is located on the 11th floor of the Social and Behavioral Sciences Building on the campus of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Most of our work focuses on human memory, reading, and cognitive control. Given the inter-disciplinary nature of Cognitive Science, we employ a variety of methods from Cognitive Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, and Neuropsychology to gain leverage in answering empirical questions about brain-behavior relations. For example, to investigate brain-behavior relations, we:
  1. may measure reaction times using naming and lexical decision tasks
  2. may measure memory using free recall and episodic recognition tasks
  3. may conduct cross-population studies with healthy old adults or neuropsychological participants like Alzheimer's patients
  4. may use functional neuroimaging techniques such as fMRI to determine the underlying neural correlates of a hypothesized cognitive process
Please look through the links on the Cognitive Science Lab web page for additional information about ongoing experiments in the lab, downloadable papers and stimuli, and other important announcements about current lab activities. Thanks for visiting our lab web page!
