Instructions Application Forms:
You must submit applications for both the Psychology Department and the Graduate Admissions Office. Both the U of U Graduate Admissions and the Psychology Department applications are due December 15. (Note that although you may find a different deadline

date on the Graduate School website, this date does not pertain to us.) All applicants are automatically considered for financial assistance. Announcements of admission and support will be made on or before April 1, and applicants who choose to enroll are expected to begin their studies the following Fall Semester. Please see the graduate admissions office for more information, in the U of U Administration Office Building.
 
 
The following forms are due in the U of U Admissions Office by December 15:
   
1. A completed University of Utah Graduate School Application Form. You may wither hand in a hard copy or fill out and submit the form online.
   
2. One transcript from each school from which you received either undergraduate or graduate credit. The graduate school will forward a copy of your transcript to the Department of Psychology.

NOTE: Remember to arrange for this as soon as possible, as it often takes up to 4 weeks for schools to process your transcript request.

The following forms are due in the Psychology Dept. main office by December 15:
 
1. Psychology Dept. Graduate School Application Form
 
2. Personal statement summarizing your specific research and career goals, your prior educational and work experience, and any other appropriate information. Make sure to indicate which faculty members you hope to work with and include a clear discussion of the fit between their research interests and your own, as well as the reasons for your interest in our program. This letter is your chance to demonstrate that (1) you have the prior experience necessary to begin graduate training in Psychology; (2) you have well-defined research interests and know how to communicate them clearly; (3) there is an excellent fit between your specific goals and interests and those of Utah 's program and faculty. For most applicants, 2 to 3 double-spaced pages are sufficient.
 
3. Three letters of recommendation (use the department recommendation form ). At least one of these must be from a faculty member of your most recently attended school. Your recommenders should send their letters directly to the Department of Psychology by December 15th.
 
4. Graduate Record Examination test scores: verbal, quantitative, and analytical or writing. The Advanced Subject test is required for all Clinical applicants, but not for applicants to other areas.
 
The department requires GRE scores that are less than 5 years old. Please see FAQ #16 for more information
