RESEARCH INTERESTS

Andean epistemology. This research project began in 1994 and has involved five trips to Peru to work with indigenous people who live in isolated villages in the high Andes. The focus of the research has been on the epistemology of the Andean people-in particular how it connects them intimately with nature-and the implications of their epistemology to Western culture. It has led to several presentations at regional and international conferences.

Computer-enhanced education. This project has involved 15 years of exploration of the use of computers in education. It has led to the creation of numerous software products and papers on the pedagogical issues that arise in using computers to enhance education. This project has been supported by a $227,000 grant from the State of Utah .
