If it is your first time going into "The Desk," the computer will ask you to make a customized desk. The page that it pops up looks something like this picture here..

After you choose the desk, you will choose some asthetic items and resource items for your desk. We start with the lamp, which does not do anything important.

Next, we choose an object to represent the "Important Resources" link. You have your choice of a stack of papers, a blue compass, or an old school gold compass.

Now we choose a duck to represent a link to the "Ducks in a Row" interface. This interface will be explained in the next tutorial.

After the ducks, we will choose the "Work and Learn" link. This is represented by a book, in various colors. It will take you to a page where you can read online text, do homework, take notes, practice homework, or participate in interactive learning.

Next, we select a phone to represent the "Communications" link. You may choose either a red, white, or black phone. This link will take you to the communication center where you may chat, email, post on a forum, or look at the FAQ.

After that, we choose an object for the "Interactive Learning" link. For now, all the objects are the same. This link will take you to the same page as pressing the "Work And Learn" link and then pressing the "Interactive Learning" tab.

Now, we will select a symbol to represent the "Grades" object. You can choose from a check mark, a question mark, or a stack of papers. In the "Grades" section, you will be able to check your grade and get information on exams. More will be explained in the upcoming tutorials.

Next, you choose an arrangement of books. This will represent a link back to the home page, the page that gave you the options to go to the tutorials, the virtual desk, the ducks in a row interface , or the menu interface.

Once you are done, your desk will be made and will come up every time you sign in and go to your desk. If you feel like changing your desk, there is a white, transparent button in the lower right hand of your desk. Press it to make a new desk.
